Briggs & Little Woolen Mills Ltd

Established in 1857, Briggs & Little is Canada’s oldest fully integrated woolen mill, meaning it is involved in every part of the manufacturing process from start to finish—from acquiring wool from Canadian farmers, to processing it into yarn, packing it and fulfilling wholesale orders. This family-run operation, located in Harvey about 50km (31miles) from Fredericton, produces 100% Canadian wool yarn, made entirely onsite using vintage machinery; the process includes scouring, carding, spinning, twisting, and skeining, resulting in eight yarn weights in up to 65 shades each. Briggs & Little’s yarn is available in over 175 independent shops across North America. Tours are offered twice a week, allowing visitors to see the entire process of transforming raw wool into beautiful yarns in action. Admission is free, and reservations can be made by calling ahead.
