Freeport has more than 700 guest rooms, ranging from quiet B&Bs with just a few rooms to chain motels with several dozen. Advance reservations are strongly recommended during the peak summer season. Several midrange chain hotels and motels south of town on Route 1 have helped accommodate the summer crush. In a pinch you might try the Comfort Suites, 500 Route 1 (tel. 207/556-5568), or the adjacent Holiday Inn Express, 450 Route 1 (tel. 207/865-9020). Both are simple, clean, and good enough for a night’s rest.
