Hotels in Futaleufu

Really, most visitors to this area join one of the organized trips on the Río Futaleufú. Those with a rental vehicle will find a few local cabins or basic hospedajes during the summer in town, although for hotels it is slim if increasing pickings here, and you'll be charged a lot for what you get. Outside Futaleufú, there are several options for lodging, including campsites that dot the 78km (48-mile) road between here and Villa Santa Lucía. If you'd like to do a little fishing, check out the Hostal Alexis (tel. 65/731505), located just before Puerto Ramírez and situated on the grassy bank of Lago Yelcho. There's a hotel in an old converted farmhouse and a dozen campsites with wooden half-walls that protect sites from the wind. You can fish directly from the shore here, but the owners also offer fishing excursions. It's open from November to April only ($28/£19 double).
