A French-style bakery and patisserie with a restaurant attached, the Gourmet Tart Company is with a great place to stop for snacks, light meals, and sweet treats. The home-baked cakes, tarts, and pastries make for a tempting midafternoon snack or a breakfast on the go. (The cafe also does a very good sit-down breakfast if you want to linger.) At lunch it sells sandwiches and assorted deli items to take out. At night, however, a full menu of delicious international fare at very reasonable prices suddenly appears—fish of the day with sautéed potatoes, say, or Thai curry with lychees, or perhaps a goat's cheese salad. Brunch is popular on Sundays. The Gourmet Tart Company also has smaller (deli/bakery only) branches on Headford Road, Newcastle Road, Abbeygate Street, and on Raven Terrace in the suburb of Claddagh.
