Hotels in Gangneung

Now that Gangneung has become a popular tourist destination, there are more choices in accommodations. As in most cities in South Korea, you have a choice of upscale hotels, midpriced hotels, and lower-end yeogwan and love motels. Many sleeping options are available in the downtown area near the bus terminals, as well as in the Namdaecheon district.

Inexpensive

In general, you can't make reservations at lower-priced yeogwan, minbak, and love motels. You just have to walk in and hope that there are rooms available -- which can be a dubious proposition in the high season. During the summer, rooms rates are usually in the W35,000 to W45,000 range, but rates go down to W25,000 during less crowded months. There are a bunch of low-priced options along Gyeongpodae Beach. Additional inexpensive sleeping quarters are available on the streets around the train station and the bus terminals on the west side of town.
