Edelweiss
This jolly basement restaurant serves hearty Swiss cuisine in a witty setting reminiscent of a mountain chalet. Red-and-white-checked tablecloths, alpenhorns, edelweiss, toy St. Bernards, and other kitsch local memorabilia adorn the wood-panelled walls, and oom-pah bands and the occasional yodeler stop by to perform. It's pretty touristy, and especially popular with families, but don't let that put you off (unless you're looking for a romantic tête-à-tête, in which case this is not the venue for you)! The Swiss come to eat here, too, as you're always ensured a fun night out, and the fondues are especially scrumptious. There are also plenty of other authentic Swiss specialities for non-cheese-lovers, including rösti potatoes, fillets of perch from the lake, and fondue bourguignonne (beef fondue served with frites and sauces)—all washed down with local wines.
