Les Brasseurs

Centrally located by Cornavin train station, this jolly restaurant draws a young, lively crowd for its menu of tasty German and Alsatian specialties. It's also the only venue in Geneva that brews its own blanche, blonde, and ambrée beers. These ales provide the perfect accompaniment to the hearty, wholesome cuisine and you can buy them (or a souvenir glass) to take away—they are sold by the bottle or the barrel. My favorite item on the menu are the thin, crisp flammeküches, the Alsatian equivalent of a pizza, made with various toppings that include bacon, onion, cream, cheese, tomatoes, mushrooms, and olives. The salads are generous, and the choucroute (braised sauerkraut and sausage) and carbonnade de boeuf (a rich beef stew)—both cooked in Les Brasseurs' beer—are standouts. Make a reservation or arrive before 9pm to be sure of a table.
