Pont de les Peixateries Velles
The old fishermen’s bridge, better known as the Eiffel bridge, was constructed in his trademark iron latticework by Gustave Eiffel in 1876, a decade before he built his famous tower in Paris. As you walk across the red-painted pedestrian bridge connecting Rambla de la Llibertat and Carrer de Santa Clara, look out for the label reading G. Eiffel & Cie. embossed on the iron. The bridge is sometimes completely wrapped in advertisements that obscure the river views, but it’s always a popular place for a stroll, and when you reach the left bank, you can drop in for an ice cream at Jordi Roca’s delightfully quirky gelateria, Rocambolesc (Rambla de la Llibertat. Rocambolesc: Carrer de Santa Clara, 50).
