This is the type of establishment where the waitstaff march through the dining room in matching uniforms, placing linen napkins on your table with a fork and spoon. As soon as you’re seated a complimentary glass of cava arrives.
You can order à la carte, but if you’re up for a splurge, choose the whole-table Essencia menu. One after another, more than a dozen beautifully styled courses appear, combining flavors of sea and mountain—oysters with celeriac, cod and wild mushrooms, tuna with beet and black olives. With or without wine pairing or the optional artisanal cheese course, the evening adds up to a memorable experience. If you need any further persuasion, this is Joan Roca’s favorite Girona restaurant.
