AC Palacio de Santa Paula
The Palacio de Santa Paula is Granada’s most luxurious hotel, rivaled only by the parador on the Alhambra grounds. This hotel combines two historic buildings—the 16th-century Convento de Santa Paula and 12th-century Casa Morisca. It’s an impressive blend of ancient and modern architecture in which the beautiful brick cloister and smaller Moorish patio are connected with glass and steel. Ample guest rooms are decorated in warm earth colors, with large beds and mosaic-tiled bathrooms, including bathrobe and slippers for the in-house spa. Standard rooms have no particular view, while superior rooms overlook the Moorish courtyard and some deluxe rooms look up at the Alhambra. The restaurant, El Claustro, set spectacularly in the former refectory, offers creative, small-plate takes on Andalucían cuisine at reasonable prices.
