Planning a trip to Gernika-Lumo

Frequent Bizkaibus (tel. 94-612-55-55) buses operate daily between Gernika and Bilbao, costing only 2.55[eu] (trip time 65 min.). If you’re driving from Bilbao, head east along the A-8 superhighway; cut north on BI-635 and follow signs for Gernika; the drive takes a half-hour or so, making this a do-able day trip. From San Sebastián, drive west along A-8 and take the BI-635 north (trip time a bit over one hour). A more scenic but longer route involves driving west from San Sebastián on the A-8, branching off on the coastal road to Ondarroa and continuing on.
