Hotels in Hue

For the volume of tourists coming through this town, there isn't much in the way of quality accommodations. Even the best options are bland, with lots of package tourists arriving to disappointing drab cells ("Honey, it doesn't look like the picture at all!"). Always ask to see your room first. Hotel services in the town's minihotels are limited, but all stops have basic tour services and include breakfast. Prices are flexible, so press for a discount.

Thang Long Hotel (18 Hung Vuong St.; tel. 054/382-6462; dinhxuanlong@dng.vnn.vn; 20 units; $12-$18 double) is a beat-up, old budget choice that's been around for a while, but it has air-conditioned rooms (from $8) and a good little in-house tour company manned by a friendly and helpful staff.
