Aalmost all of Turkey's biggest bands have cut their teeth in this local favorite. It actually functions as three venues in one. On the top floor is a covered terrace that is invariably filled with an alternative crowd drinking draft beer and smoking rather too many cigarettes. The atmosphere is noisy with the sound of many shouted conversations, perhaps because it's certainly one of the cheaper pints you'll find in central Istanbul. The music upstairs varies wildly depending on who's behind the decks. Downstairs one floor there is a live music venue where you can watch local rock and punk bands playing most nights of the week (for a small cover charge). The ground floor holds a very small club with ambient lighting, where DJs play electronic music to a small crowd of dancers. In a street filled with meyhanes and sports bars, this is a reliable option that an insight into the local alternative scene in its various guises.
