This restaurant is the training ground for the chefs who have completed their studies at the connected Istanbul Culinary Institute (ICI). In 2014, it relocated from Tepebaşı to the Kadır Has University and is now only open for breakfast and lunch. The service is friendly and efficient and it has a modern, casual and airy atmosphere akin to an upscale cafeteria. It features a creative menu that changes monthly, developed by the superstar chefs of the fuure. There is a large emphasis on seasonal ingredients, many of which come from its organic farm, located in Saros in the northern Aegean region. The young chefs experiment with the produce, taking traditional Turkish dishes and giving them a contemporary twist with dishes such as oven-baked kid with mint and green onions served with rice pilaf with artichoke and fresh herbs, or grilled octopus and eggplant purée with smoked Circassian cheese, beet tabbouleh, and rocket salad. Try the tasting menu if you're having trouble deciding. You can also participate in one of ICI's three-hour cookery workshops, which feature guest chefs who teach recipes from around the world. This makes for an enjoyable evening that you can enjoy the spoils of with a glass of wine at the end. You just might learn a few things, too!
