Patio Mexica
Just as you rarely get a good meal in places where the view is stellar, you also rarely get a bad meal at a cooking school. And that’s what Patio Mexico is (very successfully) when it isn’t dishing up some of the freshest, least expensive Mexican food in town. As you wait for your meal, you’ll hear the "slap slap" of tortillas being formed and the hard thwack of avocados being opened and onions diced. An excellent choice for breakfast, it also serves primo tacos, tortillas, and other classic Mexican dishes—the ones featuring the house-made sausage are particularly worthy. As for the atmosphere, it's very simple: just a palapa-shaded patio off a quiet street, through which the owners dogs wander at sporadic intervals. I must give it props for playing actual Mexican music during mealtimes rather than the simpering light jazz that's played at so many other Zihuatanejo restaurants.
