Location is the reason you pick the Orient. While it’s about a third of a mile (1km) from here to the Old City, the Orient occupies a very appealing spot in the German Colony, in the vibrant and fun Mishkenot Sha'ananim neighborhood, which was the first community to be built outside the Old City walls. On one side of the hotel is the boutique- and restaurant-mecca known as the First Station Complex (it was once Jerusalem’s first train station) and on the other side is the culturally diverse Liberty Bell Park. You can also see the Old City from the hotel, and gazing at the views, especially from one of the sunbeds surrounding the Orient’s glam rooftop pool, is another big lure.  The hotel is set in a historic 1883 building, and part of the exclusive Isrotel collection, which means rooms are quite cushy (excellent bedding, elegant if corporate-looking décor) and the on-site spa is state of the art, with saunas, Turkish baths and a menu of 70+ treatments.
