Katowice attracts an abundance of business travelers; hence, prices tend to be higher than the facilities might otherwise warrant, and getting a room is much harder on a weekday than a weekend. On the flip side, however, hotels almost always discount heavily on weekends. The Katowice is a Communist-era mega hotel, but because of its size, you can almost always count on getting a room.
