A relative newcomer to Kenmare, the Mews has fast become one of the town’s destination restaurants. Local seafood and meats are specialties, presented in a subtly modern style—never overly fussy, but with welcome touches of invention. A bowl of traditional chowder is prepared with vermouth; a simple salmon filet is accompanied by curried pomegranate. Vegetarians are catered to with more than just a token option—if it’s on the menu, try the delicious Indian dahl turnover, served with a flavorful garlic raita. A dessert of chocolate terrine with blueberry ice cream is enough to send chocoholics back to their hotel with a smile that will last until morning. Children are only allowed at the early dinner seating.
