Hogfish Bar & Grill
A ramshackle seafood bar and grill on Safe Harbor in “downtown” Stock Island (there’s no town, just fisheries, boats, and shacks), Hogfish is the place to try its namesake sandwich. Similar to grouper, hogfish is a delicious, rare fish with a scalloplike flavor. The sandwich they make out of it, served on Cuban bread, is so popular it’s often sold out by noon. Live music and a salty (or rude and crude, depending on your POV) bar scene make Hogfish a quintessential Keys experience. Kids like feeding the fish in the harbor.
