Nine One Five

Housed in a restored and romantic Victorian mansion, Nine One Five has such good food that it was selected to host a six-course dinner at the James Beard House in NYC. Twice. The menu opens with sharing-size appetizers, like the aptly named “absurdly addictive asparagus” (with pancetta, pinenuts, garlic, and lemon zest) or the grilled octopus over chickpea ragu. Always fresh raw bar options include daily changing ceviche. There are also toothsome homemade pastas and slew of seafood-forward entrees like the whole yellowtail snapper flash fried in Thai fish sauce or the Soul Mama Seafood Soup (with mild Thai green curry in it). Service is attentive, although if you sit up on the quaint second-floor porch, you may be there for a while. But this is the kind of place where you want to linger.
