Turtle Kraals Restaurant and Bar
Named in homage to the turtle cannery that once stood here, this funky dockside icon is popular with plenty of locals, especially (need I say) at daily happy hour with its appealing food specials and half-off drinks. Grab a chunky green table on the covered deck below, or a seat on the upper Tower Bar deck overlooking the boats bobbing in the marina alongside. Try one of the seafood specialties, including ceviche, the grouper with coconut rice, and especially the oysters (for non-pescavores, steaks and sandwiches are also available). For some less-than-fast but still fun action, try to stop by for one of the turtle races on Mondays and Fridays at 6pm. Live bands regularly do their thing in the evenings, too. If you’re here during the day, be sure to take a peek in the nearby one-room museum about the turtles and their conservation.
