There is the usual concentration of kebab and fuul places in the old town, particularly around the service station, but I recommend eating at your hotel. The restaurant at the Pioneers, serving a mix of generic European dishes and Egyptian food, is as good as it gets in Kharga. The shish-tawook is edible, but the desserts are surprisingly fresh and tasty. Avoid eating at the Kharga Oasis unless you're truly desperate.
