Cellar One

The basement dining room here is either a wry, colorful design statement or just garishly camp. However, the food is an extremely successful mix of modern European dishes, Irish flavors, and the odd hint of something more exotic. You might opt for some spicy chickpea cakes to start, followed by tiger prawns prepared in chili, garlic, and tequila, or maybe some crab-encrusted cod with wilted spinach in a coconut and ginger sauce. Desserts go down a more traditional route with choices like chocolate pudding or the wonderfully named knickerbocker glory—a super-retro style ice cream sundae served with fruit, chocolate brownies, and meringue. Service is excellent, and the atmosphere deliciously good fun.
