Campgrounds

On Lake Chelan, there are two state park campgrounds at the southern end of the lake -- Lake Chelan State Park (144 campsites) and Twenty-Five Mile Creek State Park (67 campsites) -- both of which are crowded and noisy. At the north end of the lake, along the Stehekin Valley Road, there are 11 campgrounds, several of which are served by the shuttle bus from Stehekin. Purple Point (seven campsites) is right in Stehekin and most convenient to the boat landing.

For reservations at the two state parks, contact Washington State Parks Reservations (tel. 888/226-7688; www.camis.com/wa). For information on campgrounds in the Stehekin Valley, contact the Golden West Visitor Center (tel. 360/854-7365; www.nps.gov/noca).
