Erected in 1960 to host the Winter Olympic delegation—the games took place in Squaw Valley that year—this luxe boutique hotel offers stylish lodging with an elegant blend of modern and rustic elements.

Rooms feature plush linens, robes and slippers, iPod docks, Keurig coffee machines, and mountain views. An outdoor pool is available seasonally, while a couple of hot tubs are always open for action. The in-house restaurant delights foodies with seasonal New American cuisine, and in the winter, the cozy bar and lounge fills up with aprés ski scenesters huddling around the fire pit.

The inn is right in town, but close to Lake Tahoe and Truckee River, and outdoorsy types have access to beautiful hiking trails nearby.
