Restaurants in Lake Titicaca

Copacabana is the culinary capital of Lake Titicaca. Almost every restaurant here specializes in preparing trout fresh from the lake. The best restaurants are on Avenida 6 de Agosto. They all have pretty much the same menu, which consists of trout, pasta, and pizza. But La Orilla, Av. 6 de Agosto, about 20m (66 ft.) from the beach, has a terrace that overlooks the lake. In the evening, the lights go dim, and the dining room feels like a romantic hideaway. The trout curry is highly recommended. Other excellent options include a vegetable stir-fry, fajitas, and spring rolls. On the weekends, live bands sometimes perform here. Another good restaurant for trout is Pacha, Bolívar and Avenida 6 de Agosto (tel. 0102/8622-497). An excellent coffee stop with English breakfasts and fruit juices is Café Bistrot, Avenida Costanera and Tito Yupanqui (tel. 0102/8622-497 or 0107/1518310).

On Sun Island there are a few small restaurants, such as Inti Sol (on the main path not far from the church), which is by far the best islander-run restaurant. None have names or addresses, but they all have similar menus, including fresh trout and grilled chicken. Your best bet is to ask your hotel for a recommendation.
