My tour guide’s name is Blaze, and yes, that is his real name, along with his favorite pastime. A trip to the only interactive cannabis museum (not that kind of interactive, though) is full of these kinds of quirks and nods to Nevada’s latest vice addition: recreational marijuana. Since pot became legal in 2016, dispensaries have popped up all over town, so it was only a matter of time before an enterprising soul figured out a way to celebrate Mary Jane out in the open (which, for the record, you definitely cannot do in Nevada). At this adults-only attraction, the tour begins outside of the museum to view a far-out, 170-foot mural that takes you through the origins of the plant and its uses in ancient cultures. Inside the 10,000-square-foot space, the guide leads you through several rooms with art installations dedicated to the various nuances of pot culture. One work uses LED lights to represent neurons leading into a giant brain (on drugs, get it?). You’ll learn how marijuana is grown and cultivated and explore the types of environments and rituals in which people like to enjoy the drug. There’s also Bongzilla, the World’s Largest Bong, which stands 24 feet tall; its bowl holds (allegedly) a quarter of a pound of weed. If anything, this is a fun way to kill about 30 to 45 minutes and take some fun selfies with some really cool art. And it probably doesn’t hurt to be stoned.
