Planning a trip to Leon, Spain
León has 10 trains daily from Madrid (trip time 2–4.5 hr.). The station, Estación del Norte, Av. de Astorga, 2 (tel. 90-232-03-20), is on the western bank of the Bernesga River. Cross the bridge near Plaza de Guzmán el Bueno. A one-way ticket from Madrid ranges 15€‒52€.
Most of León’s buses arrive and depart from the Estación de Autobuses, Paseo Ingeniero Sáenz de Miera (tel. 98-721-10-00). Three to five buses per day link León with Zamora and Salamanca, and there are 11 per day from Madrid (trip time 4 hr.). A one-way ticket on a direct regular bus from Madrid costs 16€‒42€ for the supra (comfortable) service.
León lies at the junction of five major highways coming from five different regions of Spain. From Madrid, head northwest on the N-VI superhighway toward A Coruña; at Benavente, bear right onto the N-630.
The tourist office, Plaza de la Regla, 2 (tel. 98-723-70-82), is open Monday to Saturday 9:15am‒2pm and 4‒7pm, Sunday 9:30am‒3pm.
