Although it's not open to the general public, you can still view the outside of the handsome LDS Temple, 175 N. 300 East (tel. 435/752-3611), and its beautiful grounds. The temple was completed in 1884, and its octagonal towers give the four-story limestone structure the appearance of a medieval castle. On a slight rise, it can be seen from just about anywhere in the valley.

Logan Nightlife
Logan was once known as "The Athens of the West" for its cultural slate, and the tradition is still going strong. The Utah Festival Opera Company, 59 S. 100 West (tel. 800/262-0074 or 435/750-0300, ext. 106; www.ufoc.org), presents a summer series of grand operas, light operettas, and musicals at the historic Ellen Eccles Theatre, 43 S. Main St. (tel. 435/752-0026; www.centerforthearts.us), a dazzling piece of restoration. Recent productions have included such operas as Pagliacci, Camelot, and The Mikado.
