Go southwest to Richmond, and you'll come across Petersham Nurseries—and in a glasshouse full of odd furniture, artifacts, and sweet-smelling plants, you'll find Damian Clisby (under the supervision of culinary celeb Lucy Boyd) cooking some of the best slow food in London. The lunch-only venue may be the height of fashion, but people come here for superbly cooked dishes that frequently incorporate ingredients from the Nurseries. The cafe's seasonal-ingredient daily lunch might include farm pork with grilled King cabbage; risotto with pumpkin and sage and Castelrosso cheese; and panna cotta with roasted rhubarb. For a less expensive treat try the Teahouse and its homemade sandwiches, soups, cakes, and flapjacks (served from noon), washed down with whole leaf Chinese teas and English nectars.
