The intriguing history of Ludlow and the surrounding region is the subject of the Black River Academy Museum (tel. 802/228-5050), on High Street near the village green. Open from spring through early fall, the museum includes an exhibit on President Calvin Coolidge, who graduated from the academy in 1892. Other exhibits explore the role of industry and farming in the Black River Valley, and provide a look at life in a Finnish community. From Memorial Day to Labor Day, it's open Tuesday through Saturday, from noon to 4pm; admission is free.
