Lunenburg Inn
The oldest inn in the town of Lunenburg celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2024. Built in 1893 by a local carpenter for his new bride, many of its early guests (including Joseph Kennedy, father of US President John F. Kennedy), arrived by train at the adjacent station. Today those train tracks make up the Bay to Bay trail which runs all the way to Mahone Bay and is used by runners, cyclists, and dog owners. The inn, which has undergone several changes of ownership, most recently in 2022, features 5 cozy rooms and 2 large suites, each with their own unique character and named after previous owners over the past century. Expect luxurious linens, fluffy towels, comfortable beds, and thoughtful touches such as evening tea and cookies. Breakfast is a delight, cooked to order and served on the covered porch (C$25 per person); guests are welcome to help themselves to board games and books in the common sitting area or linger with a cup of locally roasted coffee or glass of wine in the newly designed outdoor space, including two wrap-around decks.
