Rum Runner Inn ★★—This waterfront inn in the heart of Old Town Lunenburg is where the original sails for the iconic Canadian schooner Bluenose were made. Its location couldn’t be better. Large private balconies and guest verandas allow visitors to observe the ever-changing play of light and sea life against the idyllic backdrop of the Lunenburg waterfront. Rooms are a bit dull looking (mass produced furnishings, white walls) but each comes with a small fridge, comfortable beds, and those stunning ocean views. Four additional rooms in the inn’s stand-alone studio house next door feature skylights in cathedral-style ceilings, south facing windows of the harbor, and kitchenettes, good for multiple night stays.
