Many North Africans have settled in La Latina and adjacent Lavapiés in the last few decades, so it was really only a matter of time before a traditional Arabic bath, a hammam, opened in the neighborhood. Hammam al Andalus is modeled on the baths of Moorish Andalucía, and shares the traditional design of arched brick and tile chambers with grillwork windows to let in light. Alternating hot and cold rooms, a warm room where attendants scrub you with soap, a super-hot steam room, and the option of a massage with aromatic oils round out the sensual experience.
