In its early days, audiences at this long-established theater adjoining the Círculo de Bellas Artes cultural center enjoyed a prolific program organized by the colorful 19th-century novelist and playwright Ramón de Valle-Inclán. After a period of decline when relatively few plays were shown, the theater has bounced back and is now providing up to 10 stimulating works a year. Recent examples include Ingmar Bergman's Autumn Sonata and a modern version of Oedipus's Phaedra. The box office is open Tuesday to Sunday from 11:30am to 1:30pm, and 5pm till the beginning of the performance.
