Now that the city’s most prestigious symphonic orchestra, Orquestra Sinfónica de Madrid, has moved to the Teatro Real (p. ###), this acoustical gem has become home of the Orquesta Sinfónica de Radio Televisión Española, or Spanish Radio and Television Symphonic Orchestra. The RTVE Symphony plays a series of concerts from September through June, and it’s worth the price of admission just to see the theater, which was built in 1923 as a lavish movie house.
