This well-run, sweet little hotel is a remarkable deal. The rooms are fresh and beautifully maintained, but they tend to be small. Those with two single beds are actually the smallest, while rooms with a queen-size “cama matrimonial” are marginally larger and definitely more comfortable for reading in bed. (They have padded headboards.) Both configurations have a good work desk, as the hotel caters to economy-minded business travelers. The location on a small street off Gran Vía that ultimately leads into Puerta del Sol is surprisingly quiet. Competing economy hotels on the street are not as nice but have helped drive prices down. There’s a flower shop nearby, so if you’re staying for a while, brighten the room with a bouquet. At these prices, you can afford the treat. There’s a snack-bar room with vending machines and an espresso maker just off reception.
