Literally around the corner from the Palacio Real in one direction and the Teatro Real in another, Hotel Opera has a regal but modern feel. The modern-box architecture won’t win any awards, but management saved its best touches for the interior. All rooms face the exterior, which means some look out on the palace, and all are flooded with light. The low-key decor uses soft earth tones with large photos and contemporary prints. Terrace rooms on the eighth floor have sweeping views of the city, glass-domed Jacuzzi tubs where you can bathe by starlight, and big skylights that make the rooms themselves bright and airy.
