This large modern hotel has a spectacular location across a small plaza from the Reina Sofía, down an alley from the CaixaForum, and a 5-minute walk down Calle Atocha from Casa Patas. Because it hosts many business groups, everything is up for negotiation. Rates skyrocket when it has a conference, and drop through the floor when it doesn’t. If you can get HUSA to throw in the buffet breakfast (otherwise a pricey 16€ per person), take the deal. It’s a better buffet than the luxury hotels serve. Rooms are modestly sized, so see if you can upgrade to one of the luxurious rooms with a private terrace. Booking through the website gives less room for haggling, but guarantees a room upgrade, if available, and late check-out.
