When Tomás Alía designed this early Room Mate hotel, his toughest task was to exorcise the youth hostel that used to occupy the building. He pulled it off with bold graphic design. The black and white corridors lead to rooms awash in white with bright pops of abstract color. Standard doubles, executive rooms, and junior suites are spacious and bright, The single rooms, which may be rented for two people used to living in intimate quarters, are the main reminder of the former hostel. They are pretty and bright, but very tight. All rooms have a desk with Philippe Starck lighting and a cast glass sink in the bedroom while the glass box shower serves as a bedroom-bathroom divider.
