Perhaps Madrid’s first design hotel to openly court a gay clientele (appropriately enough for Chueca), many of Oscar’s rooms have walls silkscreened with photos of incredibly fit naked bodies (no frontal nudity) and furniture by Verner Panton and Philippe Starck. The spare and open spaces give the rooms a futuristic air, though if the price is right, spring for a deluxe room (for far more space). Soundproofing is excellent, both inside and out. That’s a good thing, because the fictional Oscar is a party animal, and so are many of his guests. You’ll see them coming down for breakfast at 11:45am; luckily, the buffet is set until noon.
