The Maipú region includes vast fields of olives and fruit as well as grape vines. In fact, locals cherish olives every bit as much as grapes here -- evinced by the annual National Festival of Olives held in the second half of February each year. If you feel like you are in Tuscany as you roam the shade-lined streets and rural roads, you're not far off the mark: Peek inside any home, and you'll notice that most inhabitants are of Italian descent -- which explains their love of good food, good wine, and the good life. Like Luján de Cuyo, Maipú is both a sprawling rural region and a town with the same name.
