Other Local Farms
In Maipú, numerous farms allow visitors to explore the production of olive oil and indulge in sensual tastings and appreciation courses. Quinta Generación, Ozamis Sur 2718 (tel. 261/499-0472), is a boutique olive oil factory that runs guided tours and tastings. Nearby, Isabel Agrovivero, Ceferino 544, Cruz de Piedra (tel. 261/410-6325), also produces figs, walnuts, and grapes. Their tours are very good, and the shop is stocked with goodies. An old olive oil factory, Laur, Videla Aranda 2850, Cruz del Piedra (tel. 261/499-0052), puts on a show for gourmands -- including a presentation on the health benefits of olive oil.

Bodega Benegas
A bodega that's as much a museum as a wine cellar, this winery is part of Mendoza's history. Built in 1901 by a former governor, the excellent Andean poncho collection is as interesting as the wine. - Winery/Brewery/Distillery
Bodega La Rural
Founded by Don Felipe Rutini in 1885, this traditional bodega maintains an excellent reputation. It's best known for its Trumpeter, San Felipe, and Rutini labels. Next door, the excellent Museo de Vino (same contact information), is Latin America's most prestigious wine museum. A… - Winery/Brewery/Distillery
Carinae Veñedos & Bodega
This bodega is receiving a lot of buzz. Owned and run by a very friendly and low-key French couple, Brigitte and Philippe Subra, it's a true boutique bodega. Their latest vintages -- mostly Malbec, with smaller quantities of Syrah and cabernet sauvignon -- have far exceeded any… - Winery/Brewery/Distillery
Familia Zuccardi
Familia Zuccardi is perhaps the most savvy and tourist-friendly bodega in the area. They serve lunch, dinner, and even high tea. Their multiday programs give you a deeper understanding of Mendoza's wines and cuisine. This authentic family winery is known for its high production. It's… - Winery/Brewery/Distillery
Mendel
The owners of the lovely Las Balsas inn in Villa La Angostura are behind this winery that's shot to fame of late. It's renowned winemaker, Roberto de la Mota, handpicked the 80-year-old Malbec vines. - Winery/Brewery/Distillery
Tapaus Distillery
This distillery provides a welcome break from grapes. The focus here is on liquor -- more precisely, liqueur: brandy, grappa (okay, they use some grapes), and fruit liqueurs. The architecture and design may have your head spinning -- if it isn't already. - Winery/Brewery/Distillery
Tempus Alba
This is another family establishment dedicated to maintaining a noble, hands-on approach to winemaking. Tours are in-depth and detailed. Come in the morning for more personalized attention; afternoons are often swamped with visitors.
