Visitor Information

The best safari operator here is Uncharted Africa. For campsite reservations and more information, contact the Department of Wildlife & National Parks (www.botswanatourism.org).

Getting There

By Plane -- Your best bet is to fly to Maun and arrange a transfer with a tour company that arranges tours in the area, or deal directly with Uncharted Africa.

By Car -- It is not a good idea to venture onto the pans without a guide or a 4WD vehicle. You will find both in the towns of Gweta and Nata. These towns can be reached in 2 days from South Africa in a normal two-wheel-drive vehicle, and can be a useful stopover if you're driving to Maun.

Getting Around

On a Guided Tour -- For custom-made tours in the pans, contact Uncharted Africa Safari Co., Moremi Safaris & Tours, Bush Ways, Penduka, or Footsteps in Africa, or one of the other overland operators listed.
