This family-run, hole-in-the-wall lunch joint strewn with religious artifacts oozes character and local color. It’s also one of the best places in town to get acquainted with classic Antioquian dishes; while you may try to resist, no one should leave Medellín without tasting the region’s signature tripe soup. Decisions are made fast and easy with just three menu options: tripe soup, cazuela con frijoles (beef with beans) and ajiaco, every Paisa’s favorite type of chicken soup. For dessert, try the classic tres leches cake (butter cake soaked in milk and cream) or carrot cake. Liquid refreshment comes in the form of beer and lemonade.
