Muzej Medimurja Cakovec
The original castle on this site at the edge of town was destroyed by a 1738 earthquake. The castle that stands in its place was built in the 18th century by Czech nobles. Many of the "New Castle's" 16th-century walls are still standing. The current Baroque structure houses the Museum of Medimurje, which opened in 1954. Displays include local costumes, paintings, and stone tombstones and sculpture, all from the region. At the time of this writing, the castle itself was undergoing renovation, so access may be limited.
