Opened in 2017, Crosstown Concourse is one of Memphis’ most ambitious revitalization projects. Investors raised $200 million to convert the 1.1-million-square-foot Art Deco tower, a former Sears distribution center, into a mixed-use building that includes apartments, an art gallery, a gym, a church, a synagogue, eateries, and shops. In short, it is a big damn deal in Memphis, and someone will definitely suggest that you check it out while you’re in town. There’s a good selection or eateries and bars, including an ice cream shop, and full brewery. Crosstown is most happening, though, during events so be sure to check their calendar (crosstownconcourse.com/visit) for events like Jewish cooking classes, bluegrass brunch, or lectures on a range of topics, including little-known hits by Stax recording artists.
