Overton Park
Overton Park is one of Memphis’ largest parks and includes not only the Memphis Zoo but also the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art, the Memphis College of Art, and the newly renovated Overton Park 9 golf course. The latter was built through an old-growth forest and features thoughtful design, including a 2,275-yard course where kids play free (though all rates are reasonable, maxing out at $7 for residents). You’ll also find tennis courts, hiking and biking trails, both small- and large-dog parks, and the Overton Shell open-air theater. The park’s large, old shade trees, arboretum, and 2.5-mile paved path make this a cool place to spend an afternoon in the summer.
