Hi-Tone Cafe

When the Hi-Tone moved from its original location on Poplar Avenue to its current Cleveland location in the Crosstown area, new owner Brian “Skinny” McCabe knew he didn’t want to change much. The musical talent the venue attracts—Trampled by Turtles to the Meat Puppets played the original—is more local now, particularly with punk acts like Risky Whispers and Little Vicious. Expect a lot of personality here—they recently held a Punk Rock Flea Market, their Instagram says they’ve been “voted a venue in Memphis since 1999,” and they recently made local news when their adopted animal, lovingly known as “Trash Cat,” was found 33 days after disappearing nearly 30 miles away in Collierville.
