There are few parts of town that are as pretty as the Victorian Village. And there are few bars as cool as the Mollie Fontaine Lounge, which inhabits one of the stately old 19th-century houses here. The interior of this classy martini bar is just as ornate as the outside, with banisters, leather settees, and old velvet chairs. There are two floors that are open to the public, and a third that is roped off and allegedly haunted (in keeping with the ghostly theme, the lounge says its hours are "5pm till the spirits go to sleep"). There's mellow piano music nightly starting at 9pm (no cover), and the lounge also serves tapas and other small plates (like mac and cheese or toasted chocolate brioche sandwiches). It's a swanky lounge alternative to the frenetic scene on Beale Street, and a much-needed one at that. Drink prices aren't cheap, as you might expect.
